OUR STORY

Every great beer is made with two simple elements: Fire and Water.  Both of these elements by themselves are unique but together they can create something pretty memorable. New Orleans, LA is a product of this great synergy.  In 1788 and 1794 The “Great Fires” burned New Orleans, LA almost to ruins. The fire re-shaped the landscape but it didn’t destroy the spirit to rebuild. New Orleans then rose from the ashes to become the most unique American City and to have 20 breweries prior to prohibition to only be destroyed…again… 211 years later by Hurricane Katrina and Rita. Though the floodwaters of August and September 2005 may of washed away the ashes of old. The resilient soul of the Big Easy grew stronger and we rebuilt again. Except, New Orleans was left with void.

Born in Louisiana and raised in New Orleans East, Cajun Fire Brewing Company founder, co-owner and Brewmaster Jon Renthrope developed his passion for beer as a home brewer in 2008, while still attending school at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fl. When he moved back to New Orleans in early 2011, Jon saw an opportunity to fulfill a void by making brewing his full-time career. After jobs working in the exact fabric that defines New Orleans, Jon was ready to break out on his own. He teamed with partners Adam Dawson, and Jomarque Renthrope to form Cajun Fire Brewing Company on Halloween of 2011.

Cajun Fire Brewing Company is a craft brewery in planning. Cajun fire looks to add innovative takes on traditional styles and adding diversification to the option of craft brews available in Greater New Orleans Region.

Cajun Fire isn’t just your ordinary brewery. It is currently the only African American owned and operated brewery in the United States. “Ultimately the goal of Cajun Fire Brewing Company is to inspire the entrepreneurial spirit and positively exceed expectations of what the population has experienced from the most profound yet misunderstood beverage of civilization. With passion we are creating a sustainable flagship company that we are confident will be a testament of civic pride for New Orleanians for generations to come” – Brewmaster Jon Renthrope

We offer a variety of brews, which consists of Acadiana Honey Ale, Praline Ale, and Ol' Yella Pale Ale, have received positive reception from samplings in such annual festivals as NOLA On Tap & WYES Beer Festival (which is the longest running annual beer fest in Louisiana). “I know at this time, New Orleans is the entrepreneurial capital of the nation. Programs such as those run by The Idea Village, Propeller, and the local community in New Orleans support has truly been a pivotal part in Cajun Fire moving forward. Everyone and myself included are driven to have Cajun Fire be apart of the craft beer fabric in Louisiana. It is interesting because the craft beer community here has only scratched the surface of what is yet to come!”
